Objective: Be able to critique their own and others’ work by emphasizing global revision early in the writing process and local revision later in the process.

Framing Statement D:

The fourth learning outcome discusses the idea of emphasizing global and local revision while critiquing one’s own work as well as the work of others. English 110 requires an ample amount of peer review, and I feel as though my peer reviewing skills have greatly improved. When revising a peer’s Big Data essay, I emphasized both global and local revision. Comment 8 demonstrated my ability to emphasize global revision. I suggested to my peer that they should “take a look at integrating more than one source into multiple paragraphs”. I also made suggestions concerning local revision. I suggested that my peer develop her argument in several places, including comments 2, 7 and 8. In the future when peer editing, I want to make sure I emphasize global revision throughout their paper so that both global and local revision are emphasized equally. I also tend to focus on development, most likely because that is a personal weakness in my papers. Though development and analysis are important, I must learn to become a well-rounded peer reviewer.
